Authorities Discover New Evidence They Hope Will Lead to Missing Wake Forest Boy

The evidence is on a car they believe the suspect, Derrick Glover, was driving the day Wilkerson disappeared.

Investigators think Glover was involved in an accident the day they believe he kidnapped the boy. They believe the accident happened between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on January 12.

The blue Honda CRX that Glover was driving belonged to Wilkerson's mother, Tracey Gill. Gill says Glover took the keys to her car the day her son disappeared. Glover was found in the car about a week later, but C.J.'s whereabouts remain a mystery.

Authorities hope the new evidence will help them learn more about what happened to C.J.

Because the driver of the car that collided with the 1986 Honda CRX may not know it, officials are asking anyone driving in the Raleigh, Durham or Wake Forest area January 12 to check their cars for damage.

Damage to the car Glover was driving reveals that the other vehicle involved had a specific type of beige paint.

"It was not factory automotive paint, but a beige paint maybe from a repaint of an automobile or an acrylic paint used in some other fashion," says SBI agent Tom Trothum.

Damage to the license plate may also provide clues about the other vehicle. SBI agents say imprinted bolts in the bumper lead them to believe the collision was with the front end of a vehicle with a license plate mounted on the outside.

Officials say whoever collided with the car Glover was driving may have the answers they need.

"Where were they? What were they doing? Who did they observe in this vehicle? That information is critical as well to this investigation," says SBI agent Melanie Thomas.

Earlier this week,a grand jury indicted Gloveron first-degree kidnapping charges. He remains in the Wake County jail on a $1 million bond.
