Man Injured in Franklinton Shooting

Posted Updated

FRANKLINTON — The tables turned on a would-be robber who tried to hold up a local store in Franklinton.

A Franklin County sheriff's deputy says that just before 2 a.m. Monday, a man with a shotgun walked into the Party Pickup store on U.S. 1.

The deputy says there was a struggle between the store owner, Bobby Chalk, and the suspect. The suspect was shot in the chest.

The suspect was taken to the hospital but his condition is unknown.

The deputy says the storeowner is not likely to be charged.
