State Report Cites Numerous Problems at Cumberland County Charter School

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — State inspectors have found a number of problems at a Fayetteville charter school, but the report says student safety is not one of them.

The director of Oma's Inc. Charter School says the school is following the state's guidelines, and is succeeding.

But officials who visited the school in January found problems in 14 of the 16 areas they checked.

The visit came after parents and teachers complained to the state.

The state's Charter School Advisory Committee reviewed the report, but did not take any action. The panel could recommend that the school's charter be revoked.

Oma's Charter School holds classes in the Days Inn motel on Bragg Boulevard. A man was shot to death at the motel last year.
