On the outside it looks like what it is: a 50-year-old building showing its age. On the inside, the old Department of Social Services building is being transformed into a new home for the World Wide Web host company.
More than $30,000 worth of renovations are taking place.
"The project includes, primarily, wall covering, paint, carpeting, and electrical and data modifications to facilitate the new computer equipment going in to the building," says architect Gordon Johnson.
Advanced Internet Technologies will soon call the building home. It has received $450,000 from the county to renovate the old building.
In turn, the company will provide 250 new jobs with salaries averaging $35,000 a year.
The company is readying for the move, which officials say must be a smooth one.
"We cannot have a break in service," says AIT president Clarence Briggs. "We have 85,000 business customers we now provide services to, so we have to continue to provide a high quality of service, but at the same time make an effective transition."
Wednesday morning, Fayetteville City officials agreed to lease AIT 416 parking spaces free of charge.
