Freezing Rain in Cary

Posted Updated

CARY — What began as a light snowfall overnight became more treacherous by early morning.

By 6:30 a.m., Cary was under a freezing rain that turned sidewalks, streets and steps into slick surfaces.

Weather is expected to be variable during Sunday, shifting from periods of freezing rain to rain and possibly to sleet before ending in late afternoon or early evening.

At that point, if temperatures rise just above freezing, some of the ice may melt before it causes problems for drivers Monday morning.
