RALEIGH — Raleigh police have identified a man killed by a hit-and-run driver Saturday night. They still seek the identity of the motorist.
He is identified as Jose Irene Fuentes, 34 years old, of no fixed address.
Authorities say that at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Fuentes was walking westbound on Western Boulevard near Chaney Road. He stepped into the traffic and was hit by an vehicle. Fuentes died at the scene.
At the scene, police found a broken signal lamp, which they believe is from the vehicle.
Anyone with information on the driver or vehicle is asked to call 911 or 834-HELP (Crimestoppers).
The police say the driver will be charged with hit-and-run, a felony, and additional charges might also be lodged.
