Britt Cobb Appointed Head Of State Administration Department

RALEIGH, N.C. — Gov. Mike Easley has appointed former state Agriculture Commissioner Britt Cobb as the secretary for the department of administration.

"Britt brings more than 30 years experience in state government to this post," said Easley. "He is a talented manager and I have confidence in his ability to run this agency efficiently."

Cobb is currently serving as the deputy secretary of government operations for the department.

The department oversees government operations such as building construction, purchasing and contracting for goods and services, managing state vehicles, acquiring and disposing of real property, and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property.

Cobb replaces Gwynn Swinson, who is stepping down from his post later in January to accept a position at Duke University.
