Body Found in Wilson County Creek

Authorities are investigating the death of a man found in a creek as a homicide.

WILSON, N.C. — Wilson County authorities are trying to identify the body of a man found in a creek.

An off-duty sergeant with the state Highway Patrol found the victim while fishing with his family. The remains will be sent to Pitt Memorial Hospital for an autopsy.

The Wilson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case as a homicide.

Authorities released a picture in an attempt to identify the person and locate his relatives. The photo is from a Mexican driver's license found on the body. Authorities said they believe the license belongs to the man but that the name on the driver's license is false.
