NEW BERN, N.C. — Authorities have released more details into a fatal shooting that sparked a statewide Amber Alert.

When Craven County sheriff deputies responded to a call Thursday at 10275 Highway 55 in Fort Barnwell, they found Alma Rios Angel dead outside of the residence. Authorities said Angel had been shot several times.

Authorities said Jorge Angel-Hernandez shot and killed his wife and abduct their 1-year-old daughter, Junni Angel Rios. A statewide Amber Alert was issued, but investigators later learned Angel-Hernandez took his daughter to an aunt's house in Pitt County.

Angel-Hernandez was later found hiding in a barn behind a residence in Pitt County. He is currently charged with murder, and he is being held without bond in the Craven County Jail.
