CARY — A Wake County athletic club that suddenly closed two months ago will reopen. Former members, however, are still out of luck.
New owners have worked out a deal to get the Cary Athletic Club up and running again. The previous owners had to declare bankruptcy.
"To a large extent it was like a death in the family, if you will ... This has become an institution for a lot of folks, almost a home away from home and the reopening has been indicated by a lot of folks to be a welcome, welcome, relief," says club attorney Bill Brady.
The new owners of the Cary Fitness & Racquetball Club are making a number of updates to the facility.
Old memberships will not be honored; former members will get a break if they sign up again.
