In the Triangle area, Fishel says it will probably start out as snow then sleet then freezing rain before eventually turning into rain.
Heading into the afternoon, areas south and east of Raleigh will mainly see rain, although it could start as some snow or sleet.
In areas north and west of the Triangle, Fishel says it is possible that the temperature could stay at or below freezing all day Tuesday causing significant accumulation.
But the storm will not stay long. It is expected to move out of the area by the end of the day.

An area of low pressure that developed over the south central U.S. reached the mountains late Monday night and continued its way east Tuesday.
