Black Churches Heighten AIDS Awareness

That concerns Black churches in the Triangle.

Worship services accross the area marked the 10th national observance of "The Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of Aids" Sunday evening.

The week will consist of AIDS awareness programs and prayer meetings, which are designed to heighten the role of the Black church in the fight against AIDS.

"One is that the church needs to start opening up the doors and the pastors need to start doing what they need to do as shepards and do what Jesus did and heal everyone, just include all illnesses," said pastor Robert Arrington.

The Black Church Week of Prayer for the healing of Aids, will also be observed in Raleigh.

Aids education and awareness programs are planned at different churches throughout the Triangle.
