Governor Speaks At MLK Ceremony

RALEIGH, N.C. — Gov. Mike Easley took time out of his Friday to honor Martin Luther King Jr., speaking to a crowd at Raleigh's First Baptist Church.

The governor shared the stage with 10-year-old Travis Avery, a middle school student from Selma. Dr. Cecil Brownie was also presented with the Dr. John R. Larkins Award, given to a state employee who's made a positive contribution to race relations.

You can watch all of Friday's program on the WRAL NewsChannel at 8 p.m. It will also air Saturday at 1:30 pm and 5:30 pm on digital cable channel 256 or over-the-air on 5.2.
