Two Injured, 16 May Face Charges In Halifax School Fight

HALIFAX, N.C. — A fight outside Northwest Halifax High school has left two people injured and has resulted in charges against 10 students. Charges are expected to be filed against six more students.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Department said the students traded blows at the bus pickup as the school dismissed for the day. Authorities said the fight appeared to involve a group of students from Roanoke Rapids and the Medoc community.

The students have been booked on criminal charges of fighting and disorderly conduct.

One student was treated at Roanoke Rapids Hospital. She was not identified and the extent of her injuries not known. School officials said that a teacher also went to the emergency room of an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
