Special Volunteers Set the Stage Before the Games Begin

Some of the biggest names in sports are lending their support to the World Games -- celebrities like Grant Hill and Michael Jordan, who is the Games' honorary chairman.

Soccer superstar, Mia Hamm, is also pitching in. She publicly endorses the Games, and recently held a soccer clinic for Special Olympics athletes.

The Games are getting national attention through ads in Time and People magazines.

But it'll take more than national ads and big names to make sure everything's ready when opening ceremonies begin at Carter Finley stadium in June.

The Games need people like Joyce Norman, one of the volunteers already at work at the World Games headquarters.

Norman is among the the first of the roughly 35,000 volunteers needed to make the event happen.

Organizers say they've handed out a lot of volunteer applications already, but they need people to fill them in and submit them as soon as possible.

The goal is to have all of the applications in by January.
