CARY — Cary Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting at a Harris-Teeter supermarket about 10 p.m. Tuesday. No one was injured during the shooting, which occurred in the parking lot.

Alfred Williams, 62, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm within the Cary city limits.

Williams was arrested without incident at his Wake County home by Wake County deputies and Cary police officers.

A December 23rd court date has been set.

Police said that the man apparently went to the store to visit his ex-girlfriend, who is a clerk at the store.

An argument or confrontation began in the parking lot, when police say the man reached into the trunk of his car and pulled out a 20-gauge shotgun. The man allegedly pointed the gun at his ex-girlfriend and then pointed the gun straight up into the air and fired one shot.

Police have not released the name of the woman involved. She was not injured, just frightened. Customers returned to the Kildaire Farm Road store shortly after the incident. Reporter: Todd HauerPhotographer: David Renner
