Court Proceedings Under Way in Burlington Girl's Murder

Posted Updated

BURLINGTON — The 13-year-old charged in the murder of a 10-year-old Burlington girl goes before a judge today.

The teenager faces a juvenile detention hearing.

At a Burlington church yesterday, congregants shared their grief over the death of Tiffany Long. She and her accused attackers attended the same church.

A youth advisor at Lowe Memorial Baptist spent time with dozens of children. David Gindlesperger says Long's death is even more shocking because the victim and the murder suspects are church members.

"It was terrible. It's been really hard," he said. "No one could have written this kind of story in their wildest dreams. It's been tough."

Tiffany Long was killed last weekend. In addition to the 13-year-old, Harold Jones, 16, and Dorthia Bynum, 17, are charged with her sexual assault and murder.
