Durham Student to Have Mental Exam

Posted Updated

DURHAM — A mental evaluation will be done on a Durham middle school student who took a knife to school Friday.

The boy threatened to use the knife he hid in the school bathroom.

He later helped officials find the knife in a restroom radiator. Police were called to Rogers-Herr Middle School Friday morning after the boy began telling people he was planning to stab another student.

According to the police report, the boy was angry with the other student for picking on him. Police say charges will be filed pending the outcome of the mental evaluation.
