Nature Falls into a Welcome Seasonal Change

Friday was not too hot, not too cold and after the sweltering summer a lot of people thought the day was a great change of pace.

It looks like the dog days of summer are finally over. Now, people in the Triangle are swinging into Fall and kissing the sweltering temperatures goodbye.

"You can smell the crispness in the air," park-goer Anthony Harris said.

The Harris' took their three daughters to Pullen Park to enjoy the picture perfect day.

"When you don't need a coat, that's just a great day to be outside," Harris said. "It's just right."

With 60 days at 90 degrees or above this year and 12 of them in September, people say they are ready for cooler temperatures.

"It's been too hot," park-goer Maggie Ingram said. "This is our favorite time of year."

The weather is just right for checking out wildlife at area lakes, playing a game of Frisbee, taking a boat ride or changing your wardrobe.

"It's nice and warm so you can just wear shorts and long sleeves," park-goer Melissa West said. "I like it, it's pretty."

Most of the parks in the Triangle close at sunset, and with the days getting shorter, people may just have to leave work a little earlier.
