SANFORD — Sanford Police say 46-year-old Larry McLeod Pulley shot three of his friends Monday night, leaving one of them dead.

Investigators say they don't know why Pulley shot at the group, gathered outside a home on Boykin Avenue, about 9 p.m.

The shooting left 51-year-old Jimmy R. Johnson dead. Johnson's 44-year-old brother, Dennis Dean Johnson, was shot in the arm and survived. John Avent Dowdy, 42, also survived the shooting, with an injury to his groin.

Pulley was arrested around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, and charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.
