GREENVILLE — Franklin Graham will one day succeed his father Billy Graham, who many people call the greatest evangelist of the time.

This week, Graham is in Greenville following in his father's footsteps. He's preparing for the tens of thousands of people who will come to hear his message.

"The message is God's message," Graham said. "It's not my message, it's not my father's message. It's strictly the gospel, and gospel means good news. It's the good news that God has provided a way for sinful man to come to him."

Graham knows he has some big shoes to fill, but he is already attracting thousands and offering spiritual freedom to those who ask for it.

Local churches invited him to Greenville and the college atmosphere is perfect for the people he is trying to reach, Graham said.

In an interview with WRAL, Graham also commented on what he thought was the country's greatest needs are right now.

"Probably the greatest need in our country is for prayer," Graham said. "There is no question we need to pray for our nation's leaders. We need to pray for our country. We're going to go through a very difficult period of time as a nation."
