RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina State University student was charged Monday after a wreck on Tryon Road left an N.C. State graduate dead.

Ryan Kiser Franks, 24, was pulling out of the Silver Lake Water Park at about 10:30 a.m. Monday when he collided with a sport utility vehicle driven by Kathryn Anne Crane, authorities said.

Crane was eastbound on Tryon Road when her Ford Explorer ran off the side of the road, police said. She overcorrected and collided with Franks' Isuzu Rodeo, authorities said.

Franks was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crane is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, authorities said.
