Soaring Kite a Relaxing Sight

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — At the end of the week, most of us are stressed out and tired. One man's solution to beating the rat race-- Go fly a kite!

Scott Hertenstein says he has spent more than 300 dollars on one kite. For him, it's well worth the investment:

"When I can, I'll stop on my way home from work. It's not going to make me too late. I forget about whatever problems I've had at work, or whatever."

"A lot of times, I just like to watch the action of the kite. Other times, [I] just kind of relax."

"A lot of times, I just wander them around the sky. Other times, I like to do little tricks with them. I like having a little bit of variety. You have to watch out for other people and make sure you don't hurt anybody. Nobody gets tangled in your lines or hit by your kite. Here near the airport, two line kites are no problem. You won't get them up high enough to bother airplanes. I'm not getting shy, but I'm losing my wind."

"I used to go sailing, but as you get older, kite flying is a little easier on the joints and muscles and whatnot. I like it because it's nice and quiet and relaxing."
