It was some party. The suspect, Brandon Edward Vaughan of Louisburg, managed to blow as much as $30,000.
Then, in a bizarre twist, Vaughan became a victim himself. His car and some of the allegedly stolen cash were swiped. Vaughan reported the theft and, after being questioned by police, confessed to stealing the money in the first place. He also confessed to stealing money in Franklin County.
Police recovered $111,500.
Vaughan will turn 20 Tuesday. He is being held in Wake County Jail on a $150,000 cash bond.
Ward says he has learned his lesson. He told authorities he'll never have that kind of cash around again.
