The men and women say they worked 16-hour days in the worst fires they have ever seen. The group said that the heavy equipment they took to Florida was vital in battling the blazes.
The equipment, which is exclusive to North Carolina, was even featured in Orlando newspapers.
"A small tractor would get stuck and then we would have to pull them out," Forest Ranger Larry Moser said. "The big equipment would finish putting in the line so it was real convenient."
Several firefighters bought T-shirts that say 'I fought the Florida Wildfires.' Proceeds will help people who's homes were damaged or destroyed in the fires.
