HENDERSON — One person is dead after a truck and dump truck collided in Vance County Friday morning.
The accident happened in the early morning hours on Vicksboro Road just east of Henderson. The dump truck was full of gravel and part of the other truck's bed rolled onto the dump truck. The tractor-trailer was carrying roofing shingles. Troopers say the flatbed 18-wheeler pulled out of a private driveway into the path of the dump truck.
The dump truck driver, William Lawrence Alston, 36, was killed. Dallas Joe Roesner, 45, was driving the flatbed and was not injured.
The highway patrol is investigating the accident.
