RALEIGH — A railroad crossing has become a fatal crash site again, this time in Raleigh. A freight train hit a man at the Royal St. crossing near Meredith College and Hillsborough St. around 4:00 Friday morning.
Investigators say 29-year-old Clarence T. White was sitting on the tracks, and that he may have been asleep. The train's conductor saw him, but the train could not stop in time.
No one else was hurt.
