One Arrested in Durham Shooting, Another Sought

DURHAM — A man Durham police say was involved in a shootout that wounded a 5-year-old boy, is now in custody.

Amos Cates faces misdemeanor weapons charges. Police say he was partially responsible for the shooting that struck down Tyquan Mikell on April 7. The boy was shot in the back, and left paralyzed by his wound.

Police say the shooting was the result of an ongoing feud. They are continuing their search for another man, Jemel Walker, in connection with the shooting.
