Sex Offender Registry has Been Upgraded

The problem is, not all convicted sex offenders register, even though they are required by law to do so.

In Cleveland County last month, for instance, deputies arrested a drug suspect who is also an unregistered, sex offender. Ronnie Hanes failed to register with authorities on two different occasions. He is now jailed in Cleveland County on a felony.

So many people have tried to check out the sex offender registry.. the state has had to make a few upgrades to keep up with the demand. The database has received more than 252,000 hits since it went on line.

To ease the website traffic the state increased capacity on the site to allow 250 people to search at the same time. The database has also updated some sex offenders' addresses.
