Raleigh DHS Mulls Future of McMillian Children

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — As Raleigh police continue searching for details surrounding the kidnapping of 2-month-old Tristian McMillion, Department of Human Services workers have their hands full with the baby and his brother.

After questioning kidnapping suspect Stephanie Malloy, police now believe at least two other people aided her in the abduction. Investigators say they expect those suspects to be charged in the next week.

Now, attention shifts to the future of Cassandra McMillion's two children. The DHS is trying to remove them from her care since she's now charged with contributing to the neglect of a minor.

Children in DHS care are usually placed in foster homes until other options can be explored.

If that doesn't work DHS tries to get the children out of the foster system and put them up for adoption.
