CLINTON — Clinton police are investigating the suspected homicide of a Clinton elementary school teacher.

Phyllis Kinsey, 56, was found dead in her home shortly before noon Thursday. Officers say the principal of Langdon Kerr elementary school became worried when Kinsey didn't show up at work.

Police went to Kinsey's home, where they found her dead. Police say there were no signs of forced entry into the house, but there were signs of a struggle, and items were missing from the house.

Authorities did not say how she died. An autopsy is being conducted.

Kinsey taught first- and second-graders for about 17 years, and she has been a teacher for three decades. Grief counselors will be on hand at Langdon Kerr on Friday.
