Friday is now a WRAL Weather Alert Day. Parts of Hoke, Cumberland and Sampson counties are under a level 2 risk for storms Friday afternoon and evening. The biggest threat will be damaging winds and heavy rain, but an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out in our southern counties. The storms are expected to impact these areas from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Several people were injured Thursday when a dump truck crashed into a moving van.

<b>GOLDSBORO, N.C.</b> — Several people were injured Thursday when a dump truck crashed into a moving van.<br />

According to the Highway Patrol, the dump truck driven by Robert Pritchard was heading south on Highway 581 when it crossed the center line of the road.

Troopers said the dump truck then hit an oncoming moving van that had moved to the shoulder of the road.

Three people in the moving van were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the moving van was airlifted from Wayne Memorial Hospital to Pitt Memorial Hospital with a leg injury.
