"He can make friends as easily as anyone I've ever seen," says the missing man's brother, Mike Jones. "Everybody around here in the community thought the world of him."
Jones' friends and family held a vigil Tuesday night in hopes of his safe return. Police say so far they have no major leads into the suspected robbery and abduction of the convenience store owner.
"I don't want to, by any means, give anybody a false sense of security," Lt. Steve Lee explains. "I say we're making progress in that we are staying busy. We're getting information. We're looking at information."
Investigators admit the clock is ticking for Larry Jones, meaning the longer he is gone, the less likely it is he'll be found.
Friends and family members know that time is critical too, but to them, the most important thing is finding out what happened to Larry Jones, one way or another.
"We miss him dearly, and we just want some answers," says Michael Jones. "We're hoping and praying and holding on to that one little fine thread that we'll see him again."
It has not been disclosed how much money was in the safe at the convenience store. Jones' brother says that often his brother would let the money accumulate over the weekend before making a deposit on Monday.
Investigators are urging anyone with any information about the suspected crime to contact them at 919-460-4636. Jones was apparently abducted in his own vehicle, a 1992 silver and blue blazer. The license plate number is HYA-2627.
