Toomer Investigation Committee Frustrated by 'No Shows'

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Algie Toomer has been found in contempt by North Carolina's House Personnel Committee again. Toomer told committee members that he could not testify Wednesday because he is taking drugs to calm his anxiety.

The committee is investigating why the former DMV employee received a $100,000 settlement from the state. Other witnesses were also held in contempt Wednesday. Committee members, like Rep. Wilma Sherrill of Buncombe County, say they're frustrated by all the delays

The committee has been trying to get to the bottom of the Algie Toomer settlement for 10 months. Committee members predict they'll end up in court before the investigation is over.
