Gunfire Kills Kinston Man
A 24-year-old man died Thursday morning after being shot outside a Kinston apartment complex late Wednesday, police said.
Posted — UpdatedPolice responded to a report of shots fired outside 7-D Carver Courts at about 9 p.m. Wednesday and found Kenneth Cannon suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest, police said.
Witnesses said Cannon was standing outside with several other people when a man approached the group and fired about 10 shots, police said. No one else was wounded in the incident, police said.
Cannon was transported to Lenoir Memorial Hospital and airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. He died Thursday morning.
The shooting remains under investigation.
