RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina's First Lady, Mary Easley, took a stand against addiction at a film screening Monday night.

Easley spoke at the screening of "ADDICTION" at the Progress Energy Center in downtown Raleigh. Easley talked about underage drinking to more than 500 public officials, educators and substance abuse leaders.

HBO launched the ADDICTION Project with a number of drug and alcohol abuse organizations. Beyond the documentary, the Project also uses a new Web site, DVDs, a companion book and a 30-city outreach campaign aimed at helping Americans understand addiction as a treatable brain disease.

The film will air this week on HBO and HBO 2.
