<b>GOLDSBORO, N.C.</b> — An 11-year-old opera singer from Goldsboro will appear on the &quot;CBS Early Show&quot; next week after winning a national talent competition.

Madeleine Edwards captured 41 percent of the vote from Early Show viewers in its &quot;Living Room ... Live! Kids' Edition&quot; contest, easily outdistancing the other two finalists, including 8-year-old Katherine Fritsch of Raleigh.

Twenty-six contestants sent in video clips of their performances to CBS, which aired them in recent months and asked viewers to vote for their favorites.

Edwards, a student at Eastern Wayne Middle School, performed an operatic aria, while Fritsch sang &quot;The Star-Spangled Banner.&quot;

Edwards will appear live on the Early Show next Tuesday.
