Turnpike Authority To Study Tolls On I-540

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Turnpike Authority agreed Wednesday to study the prospect of using tolls to help speed up completion of Interstate 540.

Several mayors in Wake County called for the study because of huge delays in completing the western and southern sections of the highway.

It's estimated that tolls could help finish the Western Expressway by the year 2012 instead of 2022.
