DURHAM, N.C. — The father of a 7-week-old baby, who died Saturday from head injuries, has been charged with murder, Durham police said.
Officers and paramedics were called to 3820 Dearborn Drive at about 12:24 a.m. Saturday to check on an unresponsive infant. The baby, T.C. Newman Jr., was taken to Durham Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, authorities said.
An autopsy showed that the baby died as a result of head trauma.
Investigators arrested T.C. Newman Sr., 28, Saturday night and charged him with murder. He is in jail on a $100,000 bond.
