On Tuesday, the City Council imposed Stage 2 mandatory water restrictions for Raleigh and surrounding communities who get their water from the city.
Inspectors are fining violators $200 for first offense, $1,000 for a second offense under Stage 2 is $1,000 and water service shut off for a the third offense.
Under Stage 2 restrictions, lawn watering is allowed only twice weekly; Tuesdays and Saturdays for properties with odd-numbered addresses and on Wednesday and Sundays for even-numbered addresses.
