Redman 911 Caller: 'I Just Heard Her Yelling And Screaming'

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The same day that Raleigh police arrested a third person in connection with the death of a 22-year-old found stabbed outside her West Raleigh apartment last week, authorities also released a 911 recording that provides new information into the investigation.

George Sasser, 25, was charged with being an accessory to murder after the fact in the death of Lauren Redman. Investigators said Sasser, who was acquainted with the victim, advised two other suspects -- Byron Waring, 19, arrested and charged Nov. 9, and Joseph Sanderlin, 24, who was already in jail, charged Nov. 12 -- to leave town.

A neighbor found Redman bleeding, but still alive, outside her apartment at Dominion Walnut Creek near Gorman Street Tuesday morning and called 911.

During the call, which was released to news media Monday, the caller, Andrew Pipkin, told an operator that Redman was bleeding and that she had just been raped and stabbed.

"She's dying," Pipkin told the operator. "I just heard her yelling and screaming."

The phone call reveals that Pipkin was also able to talk with Redman, who apparently gave him information about the suspects.

The call continues to reveal that Redman was stabbed repeatedly by two men in the upper limbs and stomach. Police said they are investigating the rape allegation, but have not charged any suspect with a sex crime at this point.

All three suspects are being held in the Wake County Jail without bond.
