DURHAM, N.C. — One man was killed and three people were injured in a three-vehicle accident in Durham on Friday night, police said.

A car driven by Chris Ingram, 20, crossed the centerline on

East Club Boulevard

, near Kiss Drive, and sideswiped a car at about 11:15 p.m, the Durham Police Department said in a written statement.

Ingrim's car spun 180 degrees and then was struck by a car driven by Joshua Shipman, 35.

A passenger in the car driven by Ingrim, 20-year-old Jeoffrey Glenn Jefferys, of Carrboro, was trapped inside and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Ingram was transported to Duke University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition early Saturday morning.

Shipman and a passenger in his car, Elizabeth Carver, were taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment.

Investigators said they believe speed was a factor in the accident. No charges have been filed at this time, but the accident remains under investigation, police said.
