Authorities said Thursday that Pablo Hernandez Silverio went to the home of his ex-girlfriend, Teresa Garcia, on South Vermont Street around 11 p.m. Wednesday. After an argument, investigators said, Silverio shot and killed Jasiel Dantory, who was at the house.
Investigators said Silverio and his ex-girlfriend have a 2-year-old son together. While authorities are looking for the child, they do not believe he is in any danger.
"We'd like to know where the child is, but we have no reason to believe that he has any motive to harm the child," said Smithfield Police Department Capt. Bruce Gentry.
Authorities said the child was staying with Silverio at one time, but that he was not with his father at the time of the shooting.
Gentry said an Amber Alert was not issued because investigators could neither confirm that the child was with Silverio nor confirm that he was in any danger.
Because the mother and father have shared custody of the boy, authorities said that Silverio would not face charges if the child were with him.
Police said Silverio, who is considered armed and dangerous, could possibly be in a blue 1995 Volkswagen Passat with North Carolina license plate number
