Police said that in the early hours of Aug. 16, between 12:45 a.m. and 1:15 a.m., a woman, 47, was walking her dogs on the 2300 block of Chapel Hill Road when two men attacked her with an unknown object.
A motorist passing by the area found the victim lying unconscious on the sidewalk and took her to Duke University Hospital for treatment of numerous facial fractures. The dogs were not injured.
The assailants were described as Hispanic males, 18 to 25 years old, clean-shaven with close cut hair. Authorities said both men were wearing white T-shirts and dark pants and that one man was wearing a Madonna charm.
