Second Suspect Sought in Fatal Shooting of Selma Teen

Selma police are seeking a second suspect in a weekend home invasion that left one teen dead.

SELMA, N.C. — Selma police are seeking a second suspect in a weekend home invasion that left one teen dead.

Antwain Groves is being sought in connection with the shooting death of Anthony Surles. Police had previously obtained arrest warrants for Jeffrey Lamont Evans, 32, on on murder, armed robbery, and burglary charges.

Surles, 18, was shot after Groves and Evans burst into a home on Hunting Drive about 9:30 p.m. and attempted to rob six people inside, investigators said. He later died at an area hospital. Surles was a student at Smithfield Selma High School.
