Woman Who Feeds Homeless Makes Plea To Raleigh City Council

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — For years, Mary Judd fed the homeless from her front porch, but the city of Raleigh shut her down twice over a zoning ordinance.

On Wednesday, she took her plea and a sermon to the City Council.

"I'm over there amongst all those drugs, not doing anyone any harm. I'm over there because the Lord sent me there," Judd said. "And if he sent me over there, I'm going to be there no matter what happened. If I have to go to jail, praise God. Like Paul and Simon, I'm willing to go to jail to God's work."

The City Council decided to allow Judd to continue her personal mission while they study the zoning issues further.
