FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Cumberland County sheriff's deputy killed in the line of duty will be laid to rest Tuesday.
Christopher Matthews' funeral will be held at 1 p.m. at Lebanon Church in Fayetteville.
Matthews died Friday when his cruiser flipped as he was responding to a call.
Matthews worked in Cumberland County since 2002, starting as a detention officer and rising through the ranks to deputy.
