Raleigh Committee Approves Surcharge Increase For Taxi Services

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The plan to charge more for a cab ride in Raleigh is moving forward.

Because of the increase in gas prices, Raleigh taxi drivers want to add a $2 surcharge for each ride. They also want to raise rates in January.

On Tuesday, a city committee agreed on a surcharge, but they will let another committee decide how much.

The Raleigh City Council will then give final approval to the changes.
