Progress Energy Workers Headed To Texas

It's been a busy few weeks for many of those workers; it will be their third hurricane in one month.

"That's my job; that's what we do," Progress Energy field supervisor Len Turner said.

And right now, they are in high demand. They have worked 15-hour days over the past two weeks to try to restore power to areas hit hard by Katrina and Ophelia.

In the Gulf Coast states, Turner said "It was almost a cross between the ice storm we had and Hurricane Fran."

"The biggest thing that sticks with me is all the trees that went through the houses and all the people that are going to have to rebuild or relocate," he added.

Turner said he knows Rita could take out some of what his crews worked so hard to rebuild after Katrina.

"That's just part of the job. We'll go back and reinstall it and get the lights back on again," he said.

Duke Power still has many workers in the Gulf Coast area, and the company is waiting to see how they may be able help after Rita makes landfall.
