ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Rocky Mount police officer is recovering at home from a gunshot wound to the back.

Police say Flavivo Cerecedo shot Officer B. G. Brown earlier this month near the Cross Creek Mobile Home Park, where he was responding to a call.

Cerecedo, who investigators say is in the country illegally, is charged with attempted murder.

Police are offering a $7,500 reward for information leading to his arrest.
